The Importance of Keeping it Local!

Geographical Association Annual Conference 2021

Last week saw the virtual Geographical Association Annual Conference take place, from 08 – 10 April. I was fortunate enough to be asked to present at one of the workshops as part of a team of international Geography teachers, about the importance of using your local area for case studies and fieldwork opportunities, before venturing further afield.

The episode of the ‘International Geography Teacher Webinar’ brought together geography educators from across the planet to exemplify how they focus on their ‘local’ to give the required exam board content in as meaningful a context as possible. Participants left the session with examples, strategies and an understanding of the experiences of ‘international’ geography teachers.

My Experience

Please see my StoryMap below for more details on my part of the presentation, which outlines some of the activities and opportunities that I try to implement into my classroom.
